Striving to meet the needs of our community
Please be aware that our courses are limited in size and usually fill up very quickly. We understand that life is busy and schedules change. However, when a student reserves a spot in a course with so few spaces available, cancellations are very detrimental as we strive to serve the needs of our ALF family of providers.
Our cancellation policy has been developed to ensure that those who are dedicated to taking the courses are able to attend. We truly appreciate at least 90 days advance notice if a course registration needs to be cancelled. If cancellation occurs within 30 days and we are unable to fill the seat, full tuition will be charged. There will be a 50% tuition rate charge if a course is cancelled within 60 days. Due to the amount of administrative expenses involved in rearranging schedules for multiple providers, we reserve the right to charge a $500 administrative fee to move registration dates for a course.Courses must be moved with 60 days notice or course tuition is still charged unless we can fill your seat. If you are on a payment plan you may not move course dates and tuition is due in full regardless of attendance as your spot was held from someone else.

This course provides the entry point for practitioners who want to start the only ALF educational track that has utilizes the curriculum and appliance designs of the creator of the ALF Therapy system of dental appliances - Dr. Darick Nordstrom.
This course is not about simply bending wires or measuring maxillary expansion.
The goal of ALF Therapy is to support functional improvements to augment craniofacial development. By understanding oral myology, neurophysiology, principles of osteopathy and reflex assessments, the practitioner can immediately implement the tools, techniques and tips learned at this course in their office.
The Why Behind The Wire curriculum is designed with a principle based approach to diagnosis, treatment planning, problem solving and interdisciplinary care.

GROWing with the help of ALF Therapy
We believe that the opportunities provided by utilizing ALF Therapy to guide facial growth allow us to support your child in ways where other appliances and techniques often fall short.
The use of the ALF family of dental appliances allows an easy to use system of continuous wear as opposed to removable and part-time wear appliances. Parents love not having to force their children into wearing uncomfortable removable appliances and/or performing boring exercises. Many other dental appliances are both uncomfortable and affect speech, eating and socialization with their peers.

Did you know that approximately 90% of facial growth has been completed by the age of 12?
**This course has a prerequisite of ALF EVOLUTION OR ALF Foundations***
After the majority of facial development has been completed, we still have the opportunity to guide the patient back to a more ideal function using a natural, principle-based treatment to supplement health. Our Guide program addresses those concerns and supports a comprehensive care approach to ALF Therapy.
This course will address ALF Therapy treatment options related to:
· airway insufficiency/sleep disordered breathing,
· movement disorders
· extraction/retraction orthodontics
· TMJD and craniofacial pain
Topics will include:
· Integrative, interdisciplinary care for the complex patient suffering from craniofacial pain and temporomandibular joint disorders
· The short and long-term effects of sleep disordered breathing and the role of the ALF Therapy team in screening for and treating sleep disordered breathing
· Case finishing options including clear aligners, positioners and straight wire orthodontics
· Diagnostic tools including the benefits and limitations of CBCT, heart rate variability, computerized occlusal analysis, cardiopulmonary coupling, polysomnogram, high resolution pulse oximetry and electromyography (Here’s a hint: Volumetric airway analysis using CBCT is not as helpful as you might have been told…)
· Patient education on self-care as well as training the healthcare team in the common language of ALF Therapy diagnostic and therapeutic tools

The 3i course supports the process of taking a deeper look into the complexities of sleep physiology and applied neurology that go beyond what most providers are taught in traditional programs.

A NOTE ABOUT ONLINE LEARNING
ALF and Laser Therapy was never meant to be learned exclusively online. Our online learning courses do not offer CE credit and are provided for your learning convenience only. If you wish to have CE credit you will need to attend an in person course. Should register for an online course you will only have til the end of the years membership to complete it.
AGD PACE Approved Contuing Education Credits Offered
All courses sponsored through The Synergy Academy will provide AGD PACE approved credit for both lecture and live participation hours. CE credit is not given if you leave a course early. CE is not given for online courses. You must be present for the entire time of a hands on class or conference to get your CE. We do not individualize CE credit.
